Roland has held C-level and other senior financial positions in both New Media and traditional Entertainment companies. For 18 years his entrepreneurial spirit has helped build VC and PE backed start-ups as well as taking small independents to the next level. Most recently as CFO of Blumhouse Productions, the preeminent independent Hollywood horror studio, he helped transform a producer-for-hire in film into a studio owning and producing content in both television and film, launch a film distribution business, an adtech company that went from zero to $72M in revenue in 3 years, as well as advise and invest in an online digital content producer. He raised close to $100M in equity and debt to grow revenue 8x while maintaining positive cash flow and profits each year. Prior to Blumhouse Roland was Chief Accounting Officer at Exclusive Media Group, backed by a $100M+ PE investment out of Holland. There he dealt with international consolidation and reporting as well as foreign currency hedging. Prior to that he was CFO of CinemaNow, an Internet start-up that was the first to stream a feature-length film online; that raised over $45M in equity through 5 rounds from a large group of public companies as well as one well known VC. Additionally, some notable consulting engagements included Open Road Films, Media Rights Capital and Mandalay Pictures. A Coopers & Lybrand alumnus and Canadian Chartered Accountant, Roland started his career primarily in manufacturing and home building. Roland received his MBA from the University of Toronto and BA from the University of Western Ontario.
