Variety highlights advocates for inclusivity who’ve made an impact in the entertainment industry over the past year. Focusing on the intersection of race and social justice in its projects, Porter’s Trilogy Films (part of Sony Pictures Television) has kept busy with nonfiction fare such as “The Me You Can’t See” with Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry, the short “Bree Wayy: Promise, Witness, Remembrance” and features: she directed “Red Summer” about a mass grave in Tulsa, Okla. Be- hind the scenes, Trilogy invests heavily in diverse talent, including a majority people of color crew for HBO’s upcoming “Eyes on the Prize.” “The industry needs more focus on feeding the pipeline,” says Porter. “It’s not enough to scramble to place one person of color on a team.”
